Hands Position at Launch

Posted by: Kenny New (gnew1@comcast.net) on Thu Jan 19 16:41:22 2012

My son has a habit of dropping his hands behind and below the shoulder level during the stride. This means that at foot plant his hands are below the shoulder level and the bat head is starting to angle back in the direction of the catcher. The rest of his swing looks good. He hits for good average and hits a few home runs as well. However when I look at clips of the best professional hitters none of them do this that I can tell.

Should I attempt to fix what I perceive to be a flaw or not since he hits quite well as he is? My concern is that changing this could screw up his hitting but I know it doesn't look like the correct launch position.
