Fence Drill

My son (10yo rt hander) did the fence drill all last summer and I think that is the reason his bat head lagged behind. He did hit the ball hard. Pulled some shots every now and then but hit to many rockets foul down the right field side. Could this be possible side effect from the fence drill?
