> (1) Do you agree that the hitters I referred to above swing with a barred (straight or almost straight) lead arm from initiation to contact? If no, link us to a video supporting your position.
> (2) Do you believe that these great hitters who have a barred lead arm have a long swing and cast? Yes or No? Explain?
> i agree that the hitters you refer to have lead arm extension.
> No, I don't see any casting or long swings. Explanation, They are not trying to create a circular hand path. They do not gain the bat speed by rotating hard with thier shoulders, if they did then they would have a long, slow swing with bat drag.
> And for your challenge. The drill is called the enforcer drill for a reason. It is suppose to enforce a tight hand path. It is not used with live pitching. If you try to teach a student to create a CHP then they will be long. Still I will try to get video of my 15 year old son hitting on the fence drill. He does not currently have the swing of a MLB player but he is somewhat in the pattern.
> See I will take on the challenge because I am not afraid to be wrong. The problem I have with what you write about the fence drill is you probably do not know who uses it and who does not. Mike Epstein teaches it and I know he has good credentials, I have no idea who you have played for or learned from. Tell me how I can post a clip on this site? please.
There is no reason why the fence drill cannot be used for live pitching. Live pitching simply exposes the fallacy of the drill. We have tried it with very good hitters and it makes them look silly.
We have also shown that the shoulders rotate rather than tilt. Bonds video
We have shown that most great hitters have a barred lead arm from initation to contact. Good hitters video.
We have shown that a circular hand path is used by the best hitters with a barred lead arm and shoulder rotation. The overhead clips make this point painfully obvious. Pete Rose video;
-- Final Arc 2 Demonstration
At a minimum, we show video to support our positions. In contrast, you continuously deny that a circular hand path or shoulder rotation exists. However, you NEVER use video to support your theories or refute our theories. Take the recently invented theory of lateral tilt, why is it that we NEVER see video to support this theory, unless BatSpeed.com is posting video to compare it to shoulder rotation?
We are all here to learn and if you want to advance the discussion, it would be helpful if you support what you write with video in the future. Who knows, you just might have the next big idea...
