Where to start

As a kid, I went out with a bunch of friends and played ball. Our 'coaching' was imitating the big leaguers we saw on tv. We all developed hitting by trial and error, or whatever seemed to work. Our Little League coaches were of little help.

I now want to teach my 8 year old son proper hitting mechanics. I never really learned any. As an adult, I play Chicago style 16" softball and have a swing adusted for that game. (It's a long swing with a very heavy bat)

I have followed the Batspeed discussion board for a few weeks, and have enjoyed the sometimes heated discussions. I would like some advice about where to start. I have heard people talk about Jack's video, Epstein's video, Ted Williams' book, etc. Any advice?
