Re: Top Hand....Confused

Posted by: Bart () on Wed Jun 4 08:38:59 2003

I am confused about the top hand when the swing starts. I have read the it should be pulled back to create torque. I have also read the having the top hand moving back to soon causes the hands to drop and the result is a upper cut swing with the dreaded pop ups. Help me on this, I am confused.

jpg...The reason for the confusion is that you are trying to do something that already happens automatically if you do things the right way. Specifically, if you have sufficient back cock during your stride, not only will the "top hand turning towards the catcher" thing happen automatically, but also almost everything else will fall into place (example, Epstein's "torque position"). I won't repeat all the details as they can be found in previous posts by me & others.
