With regard to the debate, there is little doubt that shoulder rotation plays a significant part in the swing. And most Major league players have good batspeed if not great batspeed. But the explosion part of the swing is facilitated from a solid weight shift base. And that weight shift starts with a turning of the hips from the recoil position. Then and only then can the upper body come into play for proficiency.
