Re: Early step/load

I've been taught by proffesional scouts to step and have my foot down before the pitcher has released the ball. I have had success with this because it gives me greater pitch awarness. I'd like to hear some of yalls thoughts on that. Also I've had a problem with keeping my front foot closed, even to the 45 degree mark. It tends to open up quite a bit, I was wondering if yall could help on that.

Daniel, When the front heel comes down is when the swing starts. If you stride early, you will have to start, stop and then start again. If you do that you will be looking at failing as a hitter. Ask the scout who told you that to show you a film of a good major league hitter who does that. Also, your front foot won't stay at 45 degrees. As you swing, it will open even more.
