Grounding to first

Posted by: Jane, the baseball mom () on Sun Oct 12 18:32:49 2003

What does it mean when a right-handed hitter constantly grounds to first, and how do we correct this?

My son is 10 and has an excellent swing and batting stance, probably the best in his league. He should be creaming the ball, and was, but now has developed a habit of grounding toward first. I think he may be swinging too late as it looks like he is making contact when the ball is directly over the plate. Should he make contact before the ball reaches the plate, and how do I get him to pull the ball to left field?

...and thanks Jack for letting me know about the other post!

Go Yankees! :)
