Circular Hand Path--JACK

I believe I understand what this concept means, but I need some guidance in how to actually apply it. Is the force perpendicular to the flight of the ball applied by the lead hand, the back hand, or both? Should this motion be AFTER the elbow stations itself "in the slot" or before?

How would this force actually be applied?
