actually what makes the bathead arc backwards is, given sufficient bat cock, the uncocking of the bat (and in the meantime the hips are starting to rotate)...if you have a hitter simply hold the bat vertical without bat cock (i think ichiro does this), instead of the bathead arcing backwards the hands/bat will start forward, resulting in a linear swing...
