staying inside the ball

Posted by: rql () on Fri Oct 3 19:17:00 2008

I think I understand what is seen when someone says staying inside the ball, the other night buck shoalwater announcing said someone stayed inside the ball on a liner to center. Then in slow motion he used a quasi linear/rotational swing that allowed the barrel to lag the hands a little and he hit the inside of the ball and it sliced away as it went to center a little. So I believe a simple explanation for staying inside the ball has nothing to do with the hitter in relation to the ball as has always been discussed here but rather the barrel hitting the inside of the ball on balls down the middle as this one was and balls that are even inside some.Bat drag by my terms are essential to create this affect on balls otherwise normally pulled
