Dropping hands

dear Jack,

there is one thing i dont understand. If i hold my hands at my shoulders in my stance, and there is a pitch at my knees, wouldnt i have to drop my hands (which suposedly leads to pop ups) to reach the ball?

if i did have to, would i apply THT then drop the hands, or drop the hands then apply THT
