Re: GETTING WEIGHT BACK

Posted by: TJR (TJR94@yahoo.com) on Fri Jul 6 21:35:41 2001

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO EXPLAIN TO A KID ON HOW TO GET HIS WEIGHT BACK, I HAVE A VERY GOOD CONTACT HITTER ON MY TEAM BUT HE HAS NO BACKWARD MOVEMENT AT ALL ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I would suggest for him to stand with his front foot slightly on his toe to keep most of his weight on his back foot. I have tried this with several kids and it does seem to help. Like everything, it takes time & practice to get use to this stance. If you look at Derek Jeter, he is a good example of a player keeping his weight on his back foot by constantly lifting his front foot.
