Disputing Top Hand Torque

Posted by: Matt Schirm (coachschirm@hotmail.com) on Fri Mar 30 21:14:19 2007

The concept of 'Top Hand Torque', as described on this website, does not make sense to me from a physical perspective. Forcing the bat barrel toward the catcher creates force in the opposite direction of the ball. This negative force must then be overcome by the batter to create force in a positive direction (toward the ball). Therefore, 'Top Hand Torque' wastes force and valuable time.

I welcome any discussion about this.
