My advice: buy a metal bat for your games, but make sure you practice with wood. Many of the high school leagues around the country have begun the process of switching over from metal to wood. I live in Massachusetts and already half the state is using wood. Talk to your coach, but wooden bats may be in your future. Besides, practicing with wood teaches you how to hit. It is much harder, as it teaches the hitter how to hit the ball on the sweet spot more consistently.

Actually only two conferences in Mass have switched to wood for this year, but it is hopefully the start of a trend. WOuldn't it be great if baseball became all wooden bats again?
And you are right about practicing with wood.
Where in MA are you? I live in Northborough.
