Hi Wes, As an 13 year old I and five others on my then LL allstar team
Hit balls out of Chavez Ravine Park.(Dodger Stadium)We all did it using modified batting technique which accelerated the bats at the ball intersect. The bats varied in size and weight; only .
Young and undeveloped batters (high school & under)that don't have the arms, or mature cartilidge, will damage the finger joints permanently!!!!!!!!! sometimes even with proper swing technique.
The developement of ultra-light aluminum bats have swing characteristics which do not allow them compete at a professional level. Starting children with 28" bats thru pony league allows for a consistant,"on base" and "batting avg", follows.
Pounding a ball,"Out-of-the-park", ain't the way to get the job done
an' that's why we have folks on steroids!

Can anyone guess what size bat Roger Maris used in his last year for the L.A. Dodgers? And why?
