erik, i don't know if this will help but it did help my son...his specific objective was to get practice in recognizing as quicjly as possible the various types of pitches, particularly 2-seam fastballs, 4-seam fastballs, sliders, curves and change-ups...he got to where he could also quickly recognize the split-fingered fastball and the sinker...i personally have a hard time recogizing some of those pitches even after the ball is hit or in the catcher's glove....anyway, what we did is go to college games and minor league games...we would sit behind homeplate, if possible....he would do his own mental evaluation of each pitch...in the meantime i would film the pitches, later make mpeg clips and then he had even more opportunity for his mental practice....
