His fear of live pitching will go away the more he sees live pitching. Obvious isn't it. Simulate live pitching by throwing him batting practice with whiffle balls or tennis balls, moving the pitches inside and out. This will give him a sense of his personal space around him. He will develop a keaner sense of when a inside pitched ball might hit him. Show him how to hit a inside pitch and then work on it. Every once in a while nail him with a ball. Then say you are sorry, but it happens once in a while. Call the game over the line and give him points for how far he hits the ball. Don't let him know what you are really doing.
