jack, the first part of your statement is correct..."The bat rotates through about 180 degrees from initiation to contact. The lag position is when the bat is roughly pointing at the catcher – about 90 degrees from contact."....but that is all it is...no relationship between lag position and linear or rotational mechanics...it is simply a universal snapshot of what most hitters, linear or rotational look like in frame 3, one frame from contact....perhaps the only difference is that for a linear hitter the hands will be farther forward toward the catcher...
