Which way is the best grip to get more power and bat control? Hi Ray, without a doubt you should grip the bat at the base of your fingers. This allows for a faster swing, and easier adjustments to pitches. Some coaches are big on the knuckles to line up, they do not have to line up perfectly, but the bat had better be in the base of the fingers.dog
